Lessons

Stëv has been providing private, professional one-on-one instruction in voice, guitar, piano, production, and songwriting since 1992.  He has trained nearly 300 vocalists and musicians.  With experience in all genres, Stëv has provided world-class instruction for almost 20 years.

Stëv currently owns a studio in Phoenix, Arizona and is available for in-person private instruction locally as well as in Los Angeles by appointment.  Lessons are also available by Skype.  Ongoing lessons are available by audition only.  To discuss your needs, questions, or to set up an audition, please email Stëv at: stev@stevskye.com

VOCALISTS: In 1996, Stëv moved to Los Angeles and built a recording and vocal instruction studio in Hollywood.  There he trained many great singers and helped performers to capture their ‘vocal magic’ during the recording of their albums.  He has also restored vocal cords which have become damaged through improper technique and overuse.  Stëv’s greatest asset as a vocal coach is his uncanny ability to extract award-winning performances from his clients and to teach them how great singing is effortless when proper techniques are used.

GUITARISTS: Eddie Kramer, Jimi Hendrix’s producer, said to Stëv after listening to him play guitar the first time, ”You handle your fingerboard phenomenally well.”  From that meeting, a musical relationship between Eddie and Stëv blossomed.  Norman Whitfield, famed Motown producer, said of Stëv’s playing, “I can’t imagine anyone playing guitar better than that!”  These statements didn’t come without Stëv paying his dues - Stëv has more hours behind a guitar than nearly anything else he’s ever done.

It is estimated that, to date, he has spent over 25,000 hours playing guitar!  From the age of 12, he used to practice non-stop (to the dismay of his sister and parents, just ask them!).  3 hour practice routines were the norm.  From 1994-1997, Stëv averaged about 6 hours per day on the guitar.  During the occasional 12-hour jam days, he had to use Crazy Glue to reattach his fingertips just to continue playing.  In 2009, Stëv became a semi-finalist in the national guitar playing competition, King of the Blues, where he beat out 6500 contestants and was finally defeated by the winner himself.
